Frequently asked questions
- How do I tick off a place?
- Tap a country on the globe or map to open its card, then tap Mark as visited. You can also tick the checkbox next to it in the list.
- I ticked the wrong place.
- Untick it the same way. Right after you untick something or clear everything, an Undo button appears for a few seconds.
- Why are there 256 places, not 195?
- Globetick counts all 195 countries plus territories and regions people think of as their own destinations, such as Greenland, Hong Kong, Puerto Rico, the Canary Islands and Antarctica.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Without an account your places are saved on your device. Signing in (Settings → Account) is optional: it backs up your map and syncs it between your iPhone, iPad and Mac, and brings it back on a new phone. Sign in with Apple, or with your email and a 6-digit code; there's no password.
- My places aren't syncing between devices.
- Make sure every device is signed in to the same Globetick account (Settings → Account shows which) and is connected to the internet. Ticks made offline are sent when you're back online. Changes can take a minute to arrive.
- I didn't get my sign-in code.
- Check the spam folder and that the email address is spelled right, then tap "Send a new code". Codes expire after 10 minutes.
- How do I get a copy of my data, or delete my account?
- Settings → Account → Download my data gives you a JSON file. Delete account removes everything from our servers; you can keep using the app without an account.
- How do I add the widget?
- Touch and hold your home screen, tap Edit → Add Widget and search for Globetick. Choose Travel map (your world map) or Progress. Progress also works on the lock screen.
- How do I share my map?
- Tap the share button in the toolbar to make a poster of your travels.
- How do I start over?
- Go to Settings → Clear all places.
